Notes

I decided to make my Shifting with a scoop neck similar to Alice in Wonderland because I find that so flattering.

IntSweMoDo2013 #10

Here are my notes on how I made my scoop neck, and my additional mods. I tried to be as thorough as possible without giving away any pattern info. I hope they are helpful.

  • CO for my size, with only 2 sts for each front, sleeves per pattern, back 4 sts less than pattern calls for (personal preference). Do not join in the round.
  • Increase raglans every other row, inc fronts every other RS row until there are enough stitches for 1 full cable (and the purl sts), maintaining 1 k edge stitch (selvage), then inc ONLY raglans EOR until scoop measures 1/2” above desired neckline, then begin increasing at neck edge every row (continuing the raglan increases EOR) until there are 3 cable repeats on each front, then CO sts to close the gap and begin knitting in the round (count your sts and check the pattern for how many sts to have total minus any additional raglan incs still to be worked, CO to fill the gap).
  • Work 1 short row across the cables to move the BOR to under the arm.
  • Continued raglans as per pattern (4 less sts for back for me)
  • Knit 2 rounds even (no increases) before dividing for sleeves
  • Add 1” of 2x2 ribbing to neckband to finish.
