Finished! I am so happy with the way this turned out. The lace pattern was easy, but a bit tedious and the stockinette section long and boring. I’m very pleased with it, it’s a wide scarf and I think the edges curling will make it fit nicely around my neck.
My very first attempt at kitchener stitch and it was very easy. The video on kinttinghelp.com was easy to follow along with and I had it seamed quickly.

So far the lace is knitting up nicely. It has a nice texture and seems very cozy. The first photo shows 3 1/2 repeats of the leaf pattern, about 8 inches long.
Six repeats of the leaf pattern ended up being about 14 inches long. The scarf is about 10 inches wide, though if you uncurl the edges it is more like 11.
One full skein didn’t quite make it to 12 inches of stockinette. I’m starting the second half now and will decide what to do about the length when I’m done both lace pieces.
(There is a mistake in photos 2-4: I was off by a stitch and didn’t realize until several rows later. I’m going to live with it as I don’t know how to rip out rows and go back without losing the whole thing. Non-knitters may not even notice when it’s being worn)

5/21/2012 The stockinette sections are taking forever. I put it down and pick it up periodically. I’m hoping to finish it within a year of starting.
