I’m following an old pattern from Sunbeam (672) that requires mohair yarn but I’m substituting that for a chunky yarn and adding narrow stripes of turquoise and mauve to the main colour.
I used Carnival Chunky for this jumper, the colours are beautiful and it’s very soft but I won’t be using it again because the yarn pulls apart too easily. Before I even finished stitching it together, the yarn had caused the stocking stitch on the arm to unravel due to a weakness where the yarn had snapped.
Substituting the yarn in the pattern for chunky was a mistake because after a few washes this jumper will fit a baby elephant with ease.
