Cast on for 43” size with recommended needles. Thinking my guage might be off but should have knit bigger size. Hoping the 2 cancel each other out. Should measure soon.

Nope. 48” around and Mat’s chest measurement is 43”. that seems like too much ease. Ripped. Restarted on smaller needles (4 mm and 4.5 mm; no I did not swatch). Got a few rows past purl turning row and realized that I had twisted it when I joined. Bastard.

Going well. Except that I realized that I misinterpreted “from start of pattern stitch” and was measuring from the bottom of that band of reverse stockingnette instead of above it. When I remeasured it seems that I am also incapable of measuring, too. Will get back to it and add some length to the yoke before joining shoulders.

May 2: rolling along on the sleeves and then realized they looked a little long. Got M to try it on and ripped back to sensible length. That was before I got all the decreases in so 47 st instead of 43. Oh well.

Done. Not sure I made the right choice on the size. It is close fitting. Hoping blocking will make the difference.

Also not sure about collar. Wonder if it should be larger and even have some short rows at the back for shape.

Sept 10: finally bought buttons and put them on.
