I am wondering again why I set myself out to do blankets as gifts, when deep down I know that there is no way I will finish them in time. (At least this one is not sock yarn!).

Update (April 15, 2013): I take all that back. I am having a blast making this blanket and I think I will finish in plenty of time. My sister in-law is actually due at the end of May, so I have even more time then I originally thought.

The pattern is a lot of fun. There are several different motifs so you never get bored. It is also extremely well written. Thank you for introducing me to the joys of crochet! I will never knit another baby blanket again… (Famous last words, I know.)

As for the yarn, it is very soft and spongy and the colours are fabulous. The drawback is that it is very splitty -- especially when crocheting, which seems to untwist the plies. Oh well. The overall result is very nice though.

I am using REAL vintage acrylic for the eyes ;-)

Update May 25, 2013: finished before the baby is born. I am very proud of myself!

I didn’t end up doing a border--I thought the blanket looked quite nice without it!
