I decided to start this second #CrochetGirlGang CAL blanket after a) receiving extra yarn with my order for the first blanket, and b) C’s comment that she thought it was pretty but she didn’t really like the gray. (I showed her the pattern on-line without really mentioning I was going to make it for her.) So, since I had more than enough of the main colors, I placed a second order for three extra sets of 6 skeins in Soft Fudge, Coffee Bean, and Evergreen. She chose the Soft Fudge as her favorite when they arrived.

Finished the Circle Squares/Triangles in fudge. Need to block still.

I finished the five Flower Squares today. Pretty motif! These patterns are über simple and I haven’t learned anything new doing this project, but it’s relaxing and I think the end product will be nice.

Arrow Squares are done!

Started on the brown Stocking Stitch squares today (Part 4). I finished the five inner parts and added borders to one (picture added).
So, I did learn something new with this pattern -- the stocking stitch. I have a cowl high in my queue that uses this stitch so it was good to practice. Next week’s square has cables which I’ve also never done.

All done with the Part 4 squares in fudge.

Part 5 done! Ready for the final part tomorrow.

I finished my Part 6 triangles today, which means all 22 squares and 16 triangles are done! (I’ve added a picture of the stack.) I still have to block Parts 5 & 6, then I’ll be ready to join. I’ve decided to order more Soft Fudge [edited to add that I placed the order on 12/9] so I’ll have enough to use it in the border and make a pillow out of the extra square that I made.

I began joining today but I’m not happy with the method I chose. I tried a flat slip stitch join from the back into the back loops but, from the front, it doesn’t look like two rows of double crochet. I was also using a too small hook and I’m afraid it will make the seams not lie flat. In my normal, overzealous way, I already sewed in some ends so I may just leave the few squares that I’ve joined alone and try a different way going forward. Sigh.
Thinking about border: I may do linen/moss stitch alternating brown and colors to look like dots.

I made progress on this today -- backward! I took out the joins that I had already done.

Finished joining just now! It took me three mornings before work. I used the same flat slip stitch join (from the front) that I used with the gray one and I really like how it looks.
I’ve decided I’m going to do the same border as the gray one as well (but with two ch in the corners) since the last blanket I did and the next one I’m going to finish both use linen stitch borders. I also like the look of the stocking stitch -- it goes well with the look of this join.

I finished the first two rounds of the border today. I should be able to finish the second two tomorrow morning.

All done! I’ll add pictures tomorrow.
