8/27 just weaving in ends, etc. I’m lazy.

10/18/2013 finally did the ends in time for Autumn.

I picked up extra stitches at thumb base and reduced back down to desired thumb size over three rows. I have wide thumbs so this worked for me. I still reinforced the two join areas with extra yarn on the back side to made it so there was no gap, used duplicate stitch on back to snug the thumb to the mitten base.

I ran the yarn through the final stitches of thumb tip twice then pulled through center which resulted in a no gap thumb tip. Otherwise I was going nuts trying to get it to not have a tiny hole. I don’t recall which book gave me that tip but I’m so grateful!

My mittens are pointy, but I have long middle fingers and the point works for me. A more traditional mitten would start with more stitches and be blunter.

Tip down means you can try the mittens on to ensure a good fit. I had no trouble doing magic loop on this project with no ladders. Why can’t my socks behave this well?
