Notes

3-11-12: I decided to make this shawl to wear with the dress that is seen in my avatar for my DS2’s first holy communion.
I decided to follow the modified directions given by?? (need to look up name).
I have never done a top down shawl from the center point before. I enjoyed learning how to do the garter tab cast on. I just watched a youtube video. It’s very easy to learn.

3-12-12: The chart is a little confusing as to what to do after row 31 of chart 1. I figured out that you need to repeat frows 19-31 for the length of the pattern.

4-18-2012: Still going! I took a short break to work on a yarn bowl and Shaun the Sheep. I have made 11 leaves down the center of the shawl. I think I need to go to 15. I am also on my second skein of yarn.

4-20-12: Ran down to the Sow’s Ear and picked up another skein for “just in case”. I was pleasantly surprised that they had another in the same dye lot.
I also picked up an interchangeable 60” cable needle. I have never tried one before so I thought I would give it a go.
I took pictures of the WIP. Sophie is over-joyed to model the shawl for me.

5-2-12 I have been staying in for my lunch break at work (typically I go for a walk) so I could have more time to work on this monstrosity. I realized with the deadline fast approaching that I needed even more time to get this done. I decided to take today off and spend the day knitting. Oh my gosh, my hands were sore at the end of the day. I made good progress but it didn’t feel like as it took me an hour to knit each row.

5-4-12 I am off today again as there is no daycare. today I spent the day decorating the cake and making the food for the communion. My Mom came and helped.
At this point I am on the final border. I am out of time and out of yarn so I am just going to end it. It is time to start the bind off.

5-5-12 8:00 I AM FINISHED!!! OMG! What a project! but I am so proud of the shawl and me! I barely got it wet as I only have today to block it. I didn’t have enough blocking mats so part of the shawl was blocked on the carpet.
I LOVE it!! Here I am modeling it with the ensemble I wore for my son’s first communion.
