I screwed up the one I was making as a Christmas present. I frogged that one, and I’ll make it again later, but I need knitting I can work on Christmas Day, and I don’t want to be knitting on the Christmas yarn in front of the hat’s intended recipient so I’ll jump the gun on the Hats for Sailors KAL.

I’m not one of those knitters who dislikes purling, so I might work this hat from the right side instead of the wrong. That might help me spot any errors before I get too far along (as happened on the one I frogged). I also don’t like the decrease in the original pattern (not fond of psso and the way it stretches the loop), so I might do a SSK instead.

I worked the hat right-side-out with purling the knit rows. I kept the k/p order on the pattern on each line (that stayed in line with the k1p1 cuff). For decreases, I worked p2tog.

Finished hat weighed 70.8g (approx 156 yards).
