Notes

Tigger is due to walk in a Christmas Parade in Dahlonega, Georgia (the north Georgia mountains), the first Saturday in December with his therapy-dog group, CAREing Paws. I bought him a Christmas sweater (I’m also knitting him a sweater, but it’s not very Christmas-y), but he’s going to need a hat, too. And Silver can borrow the hat for her therapy-dog visits.

Using my regular mods: Crochet chain 64+ stitches. (You can see the white chain in the photo.) Pick up 50 of those stitches (with red) for a provisional cast-on, and knit the flat part and down to the point. Pick up a total of 14 more stitches from the chain (still in red) to knit the throat/neck part of the hood. Finally, unravel the crochet chain, picking up those stitches, to knit the ribbing in white. Past experience has shown that I need to drop a couple of point sizes for the ribbing.

11/18--First 20 rows.
11/19--The second 20 flat rows and all 60 rounds on the pointy bit.
11/20--The ribbing at the neck and several inches down the neck. There’s plenty of yarn, so I may make this neck long enough to tuck into the neck of the dogs’ coats.
11/21--Finished all the red. Just the white ribbing around the face (using US5) and the pompom to do. Doesn’t Tigger look excited?
11/23--Knitting is finished. Need to block it and add the pompom. I’m hoping to use a big pompom and just tie it on inside the point of the hat. That way, I can remove it to wash the hat when that’s necessary.

I need to have this finished for

  • 30 November--Snacks with Santa (Tigger)
  • 4 December--De-stressing students at Georgia Tech (Tigger)
  • 5 December--De-stressing students at Georgia Tech (Silver)
  • 6 December--Christmas Parade in Dahlonega (Tigger)
  • 8 December--De-stressing students at UNG Gainesville (Silver)
  • 9 December--Nursing home (Tigger)
  • 10 December--De-stressing students at Mercer University (Silver)
  • 13 December--R.E.A.D. session at Mountain View Library (Silver)
  • 20 December--R.E.A.D. session at Mountain View Library (Tigger)

That’s 9 visits in 3 weeks. This hat will come in handy.
