Vacation knitting! I was lucky enough to spend a week each at two different lakes, and this stole kind-of-accidentally became my vacation knitting project. Every stitch holds a reminder of water and sky.

What a gorgeous design! I’ve wanted to knit it since I first saw it, and I was not disappointed. The juxtaposition of architectural basketweave with random lacy mesh is truly inspired.

Used every bit of two skeins of yarn, and still had to skip the ruffle. Instead, I did a garter stitch band as in the first half, and a beaded single crochet bindoff. Also crocheted a band of beads onto the cast-on end (because I did not have beads with me when casting on).

I found a minor error in the Basketweave Chart. It isn’t a huge deal, but with a piece this beautiful you want everything to be perfect. This small change yields a tidier line when transitioning from one full chart repeat to the next. It was really bugging me until I figured it out. How I fixed it: I knit the repeat section of Row 1 of Basketweave Chart this way (bolded portion is where I made the change):
k3, yo, skp, k2, yo, skp, k1, k2tog, yo, k2, k2tog, yo, k3.

Finished size (relaxed after blocking): 70 x 16.5 inches (178 x 42 cm).

Because I like very large wraps, if I were to make this again in laceweight (which I really want to do!), I would make it both longer and wider. In fingering weight, it’s the perfect size (for me) as written.
