Took this out of hibernation today, stopped dithering about how to finish it, and just finished it! And lo and behold, I LOVE IT! I simply couldn’t imagine how it was going to work until I got it off the too-short circular needle and arranged it around my neck. It’s gorgeous. Of course, the gorgeous yarn doesn’t hurt a bit, and this lengthwise garter stitch is a great way to show off a fabulous variegated yarn.

That said, I must point out that the pattern is difficult to understand. I pretty much winged it most of the way through. My dithering at the end is a result of this difficulty. When I picked it up again after months of hibernation, I couldn’t even find my printout of the instructions, and it went more quickly without them.

It has been brought to my attention that this pattern is extremely similar to Pennant by Laura Aylor. The construction is quite different--it’s a clever adaptation--but the important (and exciting!) design elements are identical. If you love the look of this scarf, I recommend you buy the paid pattern. It will be infinitely easier than sorting your way through this one!
