This is a quick, satisfying knit that results in a sweet and wearable hat. The pattern is clear, thorough, and well written. I’d make it again. It’s good gift knitting. The cables seem complicated at first, but they become intuitive pretty quickly. This color is hard to photograph, so they don’t show up as they should.

The two pinks are for the pompom! I used up every leftover inch of both skeins. It’s a good feeling for this yarn hoarder to move not one but two stash entries into the “all used up” tab.

Yarn held double throughout.

For future projects: Pure held double isn’t quite heavy enough. The gauge is right on, per the pattern, but it’s a bit loose for my taste and the stitch definition isn’t what it should be. I’d have been happier going down a needle size or maybe even two…but then the hat would’ve been too small. I’d like to knit this with Aran weight on the same size needles.
