A charming free pattern that needs slight modification to be really functional. The star stitch makes a fun and interesting fabric.

CO 100 sts; increased to 104 after the ribbing and switched to US8 needles. The top part could still be bigger and the ribbing a little tighter. Next time I would CO 100 sts but go down a needles size (US5), then go up to a US8 after the ribbing and knit an increase round to get to 112 sts.

The directions don’t say to stitch the two corners of the crown together, but it makes all the difference. I also stitched the join down onto the decrease seam below for extra stability.

Added a small colorwork band just because.
