Snowed in today on and off for days, so I had plenty of time to work on this delightful hat!

I finished the outside part, then realized that the hat was just too short for my big head…so I ripped it back to Row 18 (the row after the second bobble row), and then proceeded from Row 3 as if just completing the first bobble row. This gave me another full bobble-and-cable motif and added just the right amount of length. I shortened the decrease section slightly to create a flatter top, by leaving out three of the non-decrease rows. After blocking, the hat is just slightly too big, which means it should accommodate the lining perfectly.

Made I-cord for the strings….which goes gratifyingly quickly when using bulky weight yarn held double!

Still need the fur for the pompoms. It’s in the mail.

I ended up ordering the yarn for the lining AND the fur for the pompoms twice, both of them because I didn’t like the color the first time. I’ve had to be very very patient… The good news is that I have supplies to make more of these hats! I know I’m going to get requests for this one.

Gauge: I’m getting the recommended stitch gauge, 12 sts/4” in stockinette, on US10 needles. No row gauge is given, but I expect mine is a bit shorter than the designer’s.
