Notes

I love the look of this wrap. I’m so glad I made the large size, even though it is probably larger than what I need, it is so spectacular with the beautiful garden section wrapping all of the way around the extra large ground.

The final measurements are 66 inches at the widest point by 31.5 inches from back of neck down the spine to the bottom of the center rose.

Am using larger hook than called for throughout.

Forgot to check yarn use after Section 1 instructions, but given size of stars and yarn used with week two, I would say the approximation of 60 yards would be correct.

After Section 2 instructions have used 140 gms of yarn (approx 300 yards). Did not follow BLO instructions.

section 3 instructions (I chose to make the deeper shawl - largest and again did not use BLO instructions, 53 rows) used 234 gms of yarn (approx 515 yards).

1/15/2014 - just completed row 3 of the garden and have used 476 gms of yarn TOTAL in this wrap. The 3 rows of garden have used just over 100 gms and I’ve ordered more yarn to complete this section. (I would have had enough but then I chose to do the large ground section.)

1/18/2014 - yarn arrived yesterday and I completed row 4 of the garden with the Ranier color then switched back to turtle for the final row. All yarn used (total 585 gms total, nearly 1300 yards) recorded above. Section four total was nearly 225 gms (nearly 500 yards). Please remember that I made the largest shawl, so Michele’s yarn usage projection would be shorter than this, plus, I used a larger hook, and worsted weight yarn, rather than DK.

1/30 - finally decided to use ALL of my pins and block this baby. As always, the magic of blocking never ceases to amaze me. I liked the final section before. I liked it a lot. I LOVE the final section now. It is amazing. I will have to move pins and spray to actually complete the job as my six boxes of pins were not enough to finish everything, but I am so very glad I did the blocking because to do this shawl justice, you really need to give it a good block at least once. I can’t wait to put up final photos.

Super fun wrap to make and was a really fun mystery CAL.

But after having it completed for two years and never wearing/utilizing and knowing I probably never would, I decided the time had come to frog it and put the yarn back into circulation. And it is a week at the frog pond. Believe it or not, this was one of the least difficult ones to frog. (Note - I did not frog the little squiddies.)
