Notes

I don’t usually do MKALs, but Liz and I had so much fun doing one together last year, so we figured we’d try it again. Besides, we both had enough unloved/unclaimed sock yarn in our stash that we’ll be able to make this without having to buy any new yarn at all :-D

Clue 1
6mm needles. Using Opal held together with a scrap of Filcolana Arwetta Classic I had left over from Isabella’s fingerless gloves.

I didn’t like the way the edge looked (I love the edge sl pw makes, but sl kw always looks really sloppy for some weird reason), so after 13 rows I ribbed back and did a proper icord edge instead (knit first three, slip last three stitches of every row). Really glad I did, this looks SO much better.

I accidentally messed up the two first lace repeats… for the first one, I made a third lace row after 26. For the second one I knit R8 instead of R18 for 26. Third one was finally right, but I didn’t feel like ripping back. Design feature!

Usage: 34g Filcolana, 33g Opal.

Clue 2
5mm needles. Two strands of Filcolana Arwetta Classic held together.

Usage: 64g.

Clue 3
4mm needles. A tad dense. Using Opal held together with a different scrap of Filcolana Arwetta Classic I had left over from Miriam’s fingerless gloves.

Usage: 35g Filcolana, 34g Opal.

Clue 4
5.5mm needles. Two strands of Netto Ann held together.

Usage: 72g.

Clue 5
5mm needles. Two strands of Regia Mountains & Fjords held together. Gauge ended up being too big, so I’ll adjust that for clue 8.

Usage 72g.

Clue 6 / Clue 7
5mm needles.
6: Two strands of Mayflower Class 1 held together. 77g used.
7: Two strands of King Cole Zig Zag held together. 67g used.

Clue 8
4.5mm needles (as per my experience from clue 5). Mayflower 1 Class held together with Knit Picks Stroll.

Usage: 38g Mayflower, 31g Knit Picks Stroll

Clue 9
5.5mm needles. Opal and Mayflower Class 1 held together.
Usage: 36g Opal, 34g Mayflower

Clue 10
4.5mm needles (as per my experience from clue 3). Two strands of Netto Christina held together.
Usage: 56g

Clue 11
5mm needles. Two strands of Mayflower Class 1 held together.
Usage: 68g

Clue 12
5.5mm needles (per my experience from clue 1). Two strands of Opal held together.
Usage: 68g
