This pattern is best for an intermediate to advance knitter, because it is important to be able to see how your stitches line up. If you are at all dyslexic this could get the better of you, since half the shawl leans right and half leans left. If you stick to the chart and count your stitches you will be in good shape. Always remember to use markers, and print out the chart in color. The red lines that show the repeating part of the chart is critical to understanding the repeat.

On the last chart repeat I worked 2 rows with a US6, 2 rows with a US7, 4 rows with a US8, and 2 rows with US10. Bind off with US10.
