This was a vintage pattern I came across, a cutout from a 60’s magazine, called Mersey Mascot - it says he is a “mod” doll! I think it may be a Bestway pattern from the look of it but there really is no detail.
I think he looks like a Beatle in their early form.
The pattern either had a section missing or is assuming a good skill level, I only had the one page and there were no instructions for the jacket. I didn’t want him to be topless so I had to devise one myself working from the pictures.
Also the guitar instructions in the pattern are to cut a guitar shape from cardboard and draw on the details, but I really wanted him to have a knitted guitar, I think he deserves that, so I invented one for him.
The eyes were a bit hard I didn’t do the best job of them, I’m really not good at human-type eyes! But I’m pleased with how he turned out anyway. I didn’t like the crosses for cheeks that were in the pattern photo so I put a little pink blush on them instead. I’ve posed him on my record turntable which I think is his natural habitat!
