Notes

These are based on a traditional Canadian slipper that is usually made using Phentex a very tough acrylic yarn! But I’m adapting it to use 80% acrylic 20% wool Aran weight. My version is self coloured instead of with traditional stripes or checks as I like it better. I’m also playing around with the shape in the sewing up and seem to have less ridges (but a lot more rows) than the original types I’ve seen and using the flat edges to make the instep, plus adding trim. This was inspired by Canadian friends who asked me if I’d be able to knit something like this for them and I had a look at some on one of my trips over there as well as researching them online.

I think I’m not going to make any others of these, just this pair and another the same for my friends as I find it quite hard work somehow. Think I’m just not a footwear knitty kind of person! But I’m sure they will love these.
