I don’t have easy access to worsted weight yarn, so I did a little test knit in aran weight but didn’t like that so eventually settled for dk weight on 3.25mm needles which is working for me, my bag is very slightly smaller than in the pattern but still a good size.

The handle I knitted to 32 inches length to accommodate the slight downsize.

Easy to knit, lots of construction work though with the lining etc.

Notes for finishing! for the lining I made a paper pattern in 5 parts, front and back (identical) 2 sides (identical) and base. I added a bag base (I use 2 layers of fun foam glued together) and backed the black cotton lining with heavyweight interfacing. Handle is backed with red cotton, no interfacing so it is soft enough to thread through the buckles.

For the buckles I really couldn’t find anything I liked in the stores and wanted them to be covered as in the original pattern so I just cut my own buckle shapes from plastic and crocheted all around them.
