I began this project in January 2019 to use up my leftover yarn from other knitting projects (and some of my late mother’s knitting projects).
It’s mostly the same weight, but not all, as I discovered as I went. Fortunately the project is forgiving.
Some of the yarn is my own handspun which I had small amounts of and haven’t used in other projects. But I can tell you the story of the yarn of each square.
My end goal is to make it the size of a throw, add a ten stitch style border in a solid color (it’ll be a 20-stitch border, the same width as a square) and a fleece backing.
I have not knit the ends in as I go (as I don’t know how) which is sad for me as I’ve spent hours weaving them in.
I’m using a circular needle for this project as I love knitting on circulars, but you could use straight needles as it’s just back and forth knitting, creating mitered squares.

Finally finished it! I added a 20 stitch border all the way around in more scrap yarn. I might put a flannel or fleece backing on it, but I’m just thrilled to be done with it for now.
