My Oregon Vest
Oregon Vest by Alice Starmore
Needles & yarn
US 3 - 3.25 mm
US 2½ - 3.0 mm

Kit ordered from Virtual Yarns on 12/14/2013. Spring color way. Yarn arrived on 12/31/13. Cast on 5/29/14.

Pictures posted day by day. New pic first thing in the morning to capture what was completed the day before. Let’s see how long it takes to knit this straight through.

I am making the size medium which has a finished chest circumference of 45”. My bust is 36.5” The gauge for the vest is 28 st and 32 rows over 4”. I am getting 28 sts and 32 rows exactly with the recommended needle size.

6/6/14. I made a critical decision today. I am at the point of starting the underarm steeks stitches. I placed the garment on extra cables so that I could try it on. The 8.5” of ease is too much. Rather than rip this out, I am adjusting the front steek area. I am removing 2 motifs / 48 sts. From this maneuver I will now place the armhole steeks as for the size petite. The extra fabric up to this point will be cut out when steeking the front of the vest.

So from this point forward I will be working the petite version.

6/12 finished body, ready to prepare steeks for cutting.

6/13 cut steeks, joined shoulders and tried it on. It fits!

6/16. Finished and it is perfect!
