Did FLK heel… In terms of marker positioning - 10st / m / 8st / m / 10st

Check foot length at 5” from the last round of the heel. You’ll prob want to go to 5.25” before starting the toe decreases but this yarn is in a diff weight than other pairs you’ve made using this heel construction… Update: I’m stopping for the toe at 5”. No need to do the extra 0.25” in this weight of yarn… Update for future reference - at this weight, the yarn stretches a lot so I would consider 4.75” from last round of the heel, when working with this yarn in the future.

In the end, the toe is 1.5” in depth and you want about 0.5” of neg ease (vertically). Also, do one final round, after the final toe dec round…

It would appear that I can get a pair of socks out of 60g (30g per sock) vs about 35g per sock for thinner fingering on US1 needles. Good to know.

I estimated the yardage used cuz I couldn’t be bothered to weigh the ends - prob have 10g of the green and 6g of the yellow left, which I’ll keep as mending scraps.

Note - will not be knitting with this yarn again because it’s just not strong. It ripped in record time. And I find the hand of the yarn strangely slippery - it feels like plastic (as all sw yarn does, even if this was treated more environmentally).

KristinM100's star rating
KristinM100's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Very soft, very drapy - it grows a lot once blocked
  2. Did not wear well - holes appeared quickly / Wouldn't use for socks again / This yarn will felt if put in the dryer (but that may help to stabilize the stitches if you only do it once)
  3. There's something very slippery about it, prob re: superwash treatment, and it doesn't work well on US1 needles (it splits). US 1.5 to US 2 work well. Since you can't put it in the dryer (as far as I know), this won't be a go-to yarn.
