Notes

I love Koigu yarn but I’m not going to use it for socks again: Today, before I finished this pair, I had to darn the crap out of 2 other pairs made with diff colourways of the same brand of wool. Nice while they last though.

In future, I’m going back to Regia yarn (or Sweet Georgia) - that superwash with nylon really is the best for durability. It’s not as luxe or as nicely dyed as many of the pure wool / small batch / hand dyed brands, but it’s wearable for the long run. It’s sad to see a pair of handmade socks sprout holes after simple wear at home only (for the most part) and in slippers.

I have darned these ALL over. I think, on the latest hole (over a previously darned spot, partially), these are shot. I’m out of extra yarn for darning, for one thing, but also, these are weak all over the toe and sole/heel. Too bad because these didn’t pill, like some other Koigu colourways / lots have. So they look great from the top but they’re falling apart.

These also shrank quite a bit (unlike other batches of Koigu I’ve worked with). This yarn is totally unknowable. Really inconsistent but always disappointing in the end (even as I LOVE to knit with it and how it looks/feels to begin with).
