Notes

I didn’t actually use the Baby Birthday Socks pattern in the end… See below for my pattern.

You can make 2 pairs of socks out of the O Wool (and likely have 15g remaining to make a For the Tiniest Hat (takes 11g for 3-4 lb size))

You can make 1 pair out of the Sweet Georgia (in addition to the brim of one of the baby hats).

3 pairs of socks total - but you may only want to make 2 so choose - 2 pink or 1 pink and 1 riptide - or 2 mostly pink with small amount of teal in ribbing or heel.

Tiny Baby Socks - Actual Pattern Used

On balance - I’m not really using the pattern. I’m referring to it to come up with my own pattern:

  • CO 32 st, K2P2 for 7 rows Stockinette

  • Leg begins, dec 4 stitches in first row, K 28 st in stockinette till you get to 2” from start of cuff.

  • Begin heel flap - work 12 rows

  • Turn heel - set up: k 7 st, k 2 st, ssk, k1, turn / sl 1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn etc.

  • Set up gusset: k4, place start marker, k4, pu6, place marker, k2tog, k11, ssk place marker (12 stitches at part of sock that is on top of ankle, pu6, k4 to start marker (32 st). You want to get to 26 st so 6, or 3 on either side of gusset, at heel side, must be reduced. R1 after gusset set up: K plain (no decrease) R2: K plain R3: Dec row R4: K plain R5: Dec row R6: K plain R7: Dec row

  • Foot: K to 1.5” plain (from start of gusset)

  • Begin toe R1: Dec 4 st at markers R2: K plain R3: Dec 4 R4: K Plain R5: Dec 4 R6: Plain R7 Dec 4 (10 st remain)

  • Graft toe.
