This yarn is a joy. Right now I’m knitting this and the Frosted Leaves shawl (using Julie Asselin Journey Sport weight). They are both phenomenally dyed and so fantastic in feel (though made of diff fibres and at diff gauge). I can’t recommend it more…

Really like this pattern! I did modify the size quite considerably because I have a really small head.

  • Used fingering weight yarn (not sport)

  • Used needle sizes one smaller than rec for both ribbing and main hat

  • CO 122 st (as called for) but only did ribbing for a scant 4”

  • Did first repeat of 12 rows

  • Then worked 2 more repeats of 12 rows (24R)

  • Then worked the first 7 rows of the third repeat (first 5 rows, cable row and then 2 rows after the cable)

  • Then began crown shaping (16R - which is a lot of rows over which to shape a crown, in my experience. More to the point, it’ll take 1.5” or so, so keep this in mind if your head is small.)

By doing this I cut out 22 rows of the main pattern and 10 rows of the ribbing and used needles of a smaller size on yarn of a thinner gauge. If I’d made this as instructed, the hat would have been much too tall for my small head.

Update: I frogged this hat cuz I never wore it and I want to use the yarn for something else (as I also frogged the other project I made using this yarn). I would totally make it again.
