Notes

Note that the yarn I’m using falls exactly in between the fingering weight that is BT Loft and the DK weight that is BT Arbor. I’m making the small but using a yarn that’s more robust. I’ve also chosen to go down from the suggested needle size for the fingering version of the scarf because I knit loosely and don’t like open fabric.

Here’s the colour breakdown:

C1: Border and inter-colour - 2008 - beige, pattern calls for 475 yards… You have 534 yards.

C2: 2009 - dark brown, pattern calls for 245 yards… You have 380 yards.

C3:2001 - white, pattern calls for 195 yards… You have 225 yards.

C4: 2003 - grey, pattern calls for 190 yards… You have 188 yards.

This is not a difficult pattern - I think it could be rated a 2 vs 3 out of 5 in difficulty level. I don’t get gauge and I actually get to the desired length (and fabric texture - tight, cuz my fingering is more robust than Loft and I went down a needle size) after initial 4 pattern-colour repeat, followed by 2 repeats, vs 3. It does get a bit boring to knit after you get to ~65 inches but the pattern yields a beautiful result. I bought too much yarn, on balance - I could have got away with 1 ball of colour 2 and 2 balls of colour 1…

At the point at which I start the border, the unblocked scarf dimensions are:

Length - 67”
Width - 7.5”

Wet blocked and set to dry with blocking wires. The blocking dimensions are 72” x 10”.

Note: If you want to make another of these scarves with the same yarn, just buy one more skein of white and one other skein of grey and you can get another FO.
