US7 (Unblocked gauge): 22 st and 24R per 4” - not sure if this will stretch or shrink so I don’t know if I should increase the needle size when I finish knitting the collar…

I decided not to swatch because I don’t have extra yarn and I don’t want to run out. I would usually frog my gauge swatch for the yarn but I’m concerned that the mohair/fingering double strand won’t frog well after blocking (or even before blocking). Seem to be on track for gauge though I’m going to try to figure out whether this combo is likely to stretch or shrink.

Accidentally used the smaller needle to make the neck funnel but switched to the size 8 for the body. Then went back to the size US 7 for the 9 rows of rib. Changed to larger needle, knitted 1 row plain, then bound off in the larger needle.

Preblocked measurements which fit fine but I want some more drape in the neck (width) and in the length (an inch or so) and slightly in the shoulder width (an inch or 2):

Depth of funnel - 6.5”
Depth of full shawl - 14”
Width of funnel neck: 8.25 x2 = 16.5” circumference
Width of shawl base: 21 x2 = 42” circumference

Pin dimensions:

Funnel depth: 7”
Funnel width: 18”
Full lenth: 16”
Base width: 43”-44”

On rolling this in a towel after wet blocking, the mohair really got hairy and flew around. I don’t know if it’ll calm down when it dries, but I’m not sure that mohair (or mega halo) is my jam.

In the end, it’s a beautiful FO and I know that many people love the halo of mohair, so I’m not concerned to find this a good home. I’m currently making it again in a llama/merino blend (1 strand, light worsted) and I feel this will work well for me.
