Notes

I love the colourway of Tosh I’m using. It’s so pleasing to work with. And the hand and drape are lovely, if a bit stiff, pre-blocking.

27g remaining before the final fishnet lace section (which is supposed to be 14x a 2-row repeat or 28 rows). Leave 4 g for bind off so you have 23g to do these 28R. You’ll probably only get 11 repeats, which is fine…

268 st with 12g left to do the lace before using the last 4g as bind off. I’ve already done 4 repeats - though at 4 repeats I should be at 270 st. Either I’ve miscounted stitches or I’ve missed out on increasing 2 stitches at one end - unlikely to be determined at this point…

It seems 4 repeats took 11g so w/12 more grams I’m prob only going to get 4 more repeats before BO. That’s not as many as I’d hoped to get (only 8 repeats in total), or got the last time. The pattern calls for 14 repeats before BO…

In the end I got 5 more repeats but that was with the final WS row being straight knitted (not in lace pattern) because I wanted an even line of stitches for the bind off and straight knit takes less yarn. This also meant that I had only 3g (exactly) for the final bind off. That’s the amount that the designer indicates is required and, for me, I used about 2.75g. Some use more than that esp. for stretchy bind off. My pref would have been to keep 4g aside but in this instance, it worked out and I have 0.5g of yarn remaining.

Blocked agressively to 52” (length) x 18.5” (at centre tab depth) so much smaller than the pattern indicates and there is NO way I could have blocked it bigger. I used fingering (more robust than with my other shawls by J Kallio) and also used suggested needle size.

Frogged this in April 2022. Really never wore it and I think it would make a cute pair of socks…
