Notes

In the end I used 8.5 of 13 skeins. Remainder ball = 56g

Unused skeins (for return) = 418g

Total remainder of yarn: 474g

Starting point was 1352g so 1352 - 474 = 878 g or 1905 yards…

Pre blocked dimensions: 54”L x 38”W (the cable border is the long edge…)

Post blocked dimensions: 56.5”L x 40”W

So this did not grow much AT ALL. Totally at odds with everything I read about the yarn. Go figure.

I used much less yarn than called for to make a modified medium (which is to say, mid-way between the medium and largest size, pre blocked, and slightly wider than the small size). But I hear that this yarn grows excessively once blocked so I have a feeling it will be more like the length of the large blanket and a medium in width. Technically, I was going for the large (and I did 9 of the 10 repeats recommended) but I felt that, were it to grow excessively, larger would be too large. I hope it gains a bit of width in blocking because, while it’s already wide enough, it would be that much more winter-luxe if it had a bit more width. It’s long enough to cover me from shoulders to toes.

On the topic of the pattern: I never would have thought that I’d find a groove with cables and lace-work but I may be on that path. By the 7th repeat, things became quite intuitive. I def find this easier to do than the Golden Dreams shawl (the only other lacework with cables I can remember doing). This was a much larger project and I completed it with much less effort and in less time - but the Golden Dreams was made of fingering weight and this from worsted. And the needles here were 4 sizes larger than with the Golden Dreams. So maybe that’s why this was so much easier. Still - I could talk AND knit the cable/lace rows. So I know I’m improving in skill.
