Notes

Use the Canopy Fingering - slightly heavier than the fingering the designer used but I will go down a needle size for a firmer fabric (I knit loosely) and a slightly smaller size.

Pattern calls for US6, use US5

This 8-row repeat seems like a lot to think about for the first 40 rows or so, but then it is memorized, almost by magic. I am not a fan of lace projects in most cases. I love lace, but I don’t seem to enjoy knitting it. The lacework on the Kyler is modern, interesting and doable while watching tv.

I’d like to make this again in a light fingering (or maybe some of that yarn that’s really light-weight). I’d also consider going down another needle size (to US 4) because I feel that the finished shawl is very long at the pointy edges even on a US 5.

Having worn it for a day, I’m no outlier when I say that this shawl is really freakin’ wearable/warm and totally chic, esp. given (or because of) its size. In the right yarn (and I chose well), the drape is spectacular and the lace work very beautiful, but not fussy.

I even enjoyed the process of making this shawl and - as I’ve mentioned - lace work isn’t my fave knitting technique.

This is a really approachable lace knit that I highly recommend.
