Frogged this on Aug 25, 23. I really don’t like how the pattern is written. This wasn’t enjoyable knitting for me and I have knitted too many projects lately that look like they’re going to be fun/straight-forward/meditative, that actually end up being really tedious knitting. Maybe I’ll try this again some day but it’s done for now.

Initial Thoughts:

• I considered using this yarn for the following shawls: Until Silence - Sanni Pauliina, Linya - Berangere Cailliau, Hollows - B Mandarines, Orthogonal - Emily Greene

• In the end I landed on this one AND the Hollows. I’m knitting them both in the same yarn and I’ll either rip back the one that appeals less OR rip them both back. I’m not exactly convinced by either at this point.

• My issue with this pattern is that it is very counter-intuitively written, as many others have suggested. This should be charted or at least explained so that one is not tethered to a pattern to read every last row. And then when one repeats a section, the row counts aren’t included… I like how it looks but I’m not enjoying the process and I picked up a shawl pattern so that I could have a meditative experience. This will def be a product knit if I continue with it. I’m also not convinced by the shape of this shawl. While I knit lots of asymmetric triangles, the shawls I wear tend to be crescent shaped.

US4 Pre-blocked: 25st and 34R in 4”
US4 Post-blocked: 25st and 36R in 4”
