So this pattern thrilingly yielded an adult small hat AND small pompom with no yarn remaining. Very efficient!

Must say that the pattern groove was hard to find with this pattern - though when I eventually got there (2/3 through the pattern), it became more enjoyable. This is the pattern that intuitively taught me how to cable without a needle, so I am very grateful to it for that!

I made the main body on a US 8 (instead of 9) because I’m not a tight knitter and I don’t find that cabling changes my gauge overly. I also have a really small head. I only made the ribbed section 2” as I felt that 2.5” would be too long for my proportions. It would also have made it impossible to include the pompom.
