Update: Not sure I’m feeling this Remi Camisole with this yarn so I’ve decided to try working with the Cardiff Cashmere on the Moxie top - which is knitted up at a much smaller gauge. As such, I’m less concerned about it being too open/translucent, which is frankly not useful in Cdn winter, even if I wear a cardigan or jacket over top. I may opt to frog this one or the Moxie, based on what I discover as I work…

Instructed gauge: 32st and 34R in 4” / 8st and 8.5R in 1”

KM Gauge US 5
Preblocked: 37st (? hard to determine) and 34R in 4”

I wonder if/how this yarn will bloom to get closer to stitch gauge. I don’t think I’d want a fabric any more open than this (preblocked) and it may even be more open than I’d like but it’s skewing quite a bit smaller than recommended gauge before blocking. I hope it grows slightly and plumps up to firm up the fabric.

Post-blocked: 33 st and 35R in 4”/ 8.25 st and 8.75R in 1”

Note that I pinned this to the desired dimensions, when wet blocking, without issue. This definitely grew horizontally and shrank slightly vertically. I know that vertical measurements are important in this garment so I’ll need to consider 3% vertical shrinkage. Part of me wants to go down a needle size to get a firmer / less open fabric, but that will mess more with the vertical gauge and I did pin this, leading me to believe that, unpinned, the row gauge and st gauge will even out as instructed.

I opted to do the original shoulder tabs over 7 repeats, not 8, because I can tell this yarn is likely going to stretch vertically over time and this is how I can shorten the armscye of the second size to approx 6.75” (the depth of my armscye).

For those who may be a bit confused by the instructions about increasing in pattern, just remember that, when you M1P, those stitches will remain purls (on the RS). When you M1L, those stitches will remain knits (on the RS).

KristinM100's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Unfortunately there was no consistency in yarn thickness over the balls I purchased. I had to frog half a project and now I have 2 skeins that can't be used with the other 4. Given how much this yarn costs, I would not recommend it despite what I say below.
  2. This yarn feels and looks spectacular. The halo is soft and short. Outrageously soft yarn. So soft that I'm worried it will pill and/or felt. Note - it did felt and frogging it was a misery that took 3x longer than it should have. This yarn doesn't love being reworked after blocking.
  3. Incredibly light-weight. This is def more of a fingering than DK-weight yarn. I really hope it wears alright given how fragile it is. Time will tell...
