Notes
  • BO is tighter than CO so work from bottom to top, as you’ll switch up the needle size to the smaller one when you get to the third colour from the top.

  • Knit each stripe to 1.5”. Knit first row of every colour change.

Sequence:

Tubular CO with US 7 then switch to US 8 (Shrug bottom)
Stripe 1 Sonder (flat white) 11R / 13g
Stripe 2 Estelle (grey) 11R / 13g
Stripe 3 Alpagas Gaston (straight white) 10R / 18g
Stripe 4 Adelaide Charcoal 11R / 16g
Stripe 5 Handspun (white white) 10R / 21g
Stripe 6 de Maille (pearl white held double) 10R / 25g
Stripe 7 Estelle (grey) 11R
Stripe 8 Sonder (flat white) 11R
Stripe 9 Gaston (straight white) 10R

At the end of this stripe, switch to US7

Stripe 10 Sonder (flat white) 11R
Stripe 11 Woolly M (held double) (moss) 11R/ 22g
Stripe 12 Alpagas bamboo (held triple) (pink white) 11R / 18g
Stripe 13 Sonder (flat white) (neck / top of shrug) 11R and BO

  • Pre-blocked Dimensions: 20” long / 12” bottom circumference / 10.5” top circumference.

Worsted (17g required per stripe for ~10R stripes):

  • Estelle Llama 32g (2 x 16g stripes) - mid grey

  • Classic Elite Adelaide 16g (1 x 16g stripe) - charcoal (you also have a remnant of some other yarn no longer categorized that is practically the same colour if you need an extra round - Update: It was a 5g remainder of Quechua, which I did use on part of the final round.)

  • Sonder Sunday Morning DK - 63g (4 x 17g stripes - flat white

  • Handspun Corriedale Cream DK (2 x 17g) - white

Fingering (Between 23g - 34g required per stripe for ~11R stripes)

  • Alpagas Bamboo - 60g, light fingering (1 stripe if held triple) - pink white

  • Woolfolk Tynd - 32g (~1 stripe) - smokey teal (you also have 8g of the same colourway in the FAR base in case you need to knit an extra row…)

Update: Decided to play yarn chicken to use up the remainder of my Hearth in Moss (23g, heavy fingering).

  • Maille En Bas - 34g (1 stripe) - pearl white (sport-weight)

  • Alpagas Gaston - 125g (3 stripes if held single / 2 stripes if held double) - straight white (sport-weight)

KristinM100's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Beautiful colours
  2. Great combo of drape and bounce. Holds its shape but isn't stiff.
  3. DK-weight may be less soft than fingering (but I don't have enough experience to confirm that as yet).

KristinM100's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Beautifully, naturally dyed
  2. Seems quite strong (but wear will tell)
  3. While I can feel the energy in this yarn, it's not easy on the hands. The yarn doesn't slip on the needles (even metal ones). As such, it can't be my go-to yarn but I will knit with it sometimes.

KristinM100's adjectives for this yarn
  1. Yarn of excellent quality that has beautiful drape.
  2. It is however, full of alpaca guard hairs and bits of linen that poke out. If prickle is an issue, this yarn isn't for you.
  3. Quite a light DK. More sport-weight than worsted-weight...
