Notes

Last time I made this, it was too tight because I went down a needle size from that which the pattern recommends. This time I’m using the recommended size (US6). I’m using a yarn with much more drape so, between these 2 features, I’m pretty sure it will turn out to be the size I’d like.

Still don’t love the colour of the (stash) yarn I’ll be using. But maybe, when finished, it will appeal to me more.

Lord - I really don’t like this pattern. I mean, it’s well-written and it produces the finished object you’d expect, but it’s so tedious. I don’t think I’ll be making it again (unless I need to use up some stash and this is the only pattern that fits the bill).

I really don’t get gauge with this pattern. This time I used the proposed needle size (vs one too small, as I did when first I made this shawl) and it’s still way smaller than it should be.

Pre Blocked Measurements

Head opening - top - 17” circumference
Body opening - bottom - 40” circumference
Long side depth = 16” long
Shorter side depth = 8.5” long

When you block, block the head opening to 22” if possible, to 18” on longer side and 10” shorter side.

Post Blocked / Final Measurements:

I blocked to the dimensions noted above, to the best of my ability.

Head opening - top - 21” circumference
Body opening - bottom - 45” circumference
Long side depth = 19” long
Shorter side depth = 9.5”

Not a bad blocking outcome. Could have used a bit more circumference at the head opening, but other than that, this is good. Much better than last time. I actually really like this garment. I suppose I might one day make it again.
