Knitters Beware:

I’m blocking this in the washing machine (washable yarn, thing’s too big) right now and I have to say I do not like it. The yarn didn’t produce a tight enough fabric (despite my tightest knitting and a swatch that got gauge). The pattern is interesting but not for me. Too bad. Happily, it works on my kid (she’s a reed and does the oversize thing really well).

  1. About this Spud & Chloe Fine wool / silk blend: It grows a LOT. Making it v. difficult to gauge (no pun intended) how big this thing is going to be. I don’t like how silk impacts drape, at least in this instance…

  2. I think this pattern is very clever - but there’s a lot of ease in the sleeves. It fits quite large in the arms. The back armscye (which is part of the shrug body) is also very large (wide). I recommend making the shrug less long than the measurements suggested. Even though I cut 3 inches from the centre back (1.5 inches from either side), it may still be gapey at the back arm. Photos of the back of the sweater show the model experiencing the same problem. Could be an issue of the way it’s drafted.

This yarn wore so badly that we eventually threw this garment away - to sheeny.
