Sz. XS/S
Followed as written to sleeve separation except I omittied the “X” detail on the front and I added one inch in length. (I did this because I’m tall, but now that the sweater is finished, I realize it was not needed.)
At this point, instead of knitting the front and back separately, I knitted in the round using this technique recommended in many others’ projects: https://fringeassociation.com/2015/01/20/basted-knitting-...
As I got close to the point for the ribbing at the bottom of the body, I started the collar and completed it, then moved on to sleeves, leaving the body length for last.
8/20/20 Update: I’m currently working on sleeves. About halfway done with first sleeve. After completing the sleeves, i will determine how much to add to the bottom of sweater before the ribbing. I did 13 rounds of ribbing.
8/23/20 Everything complete except binding off sleeves and body. I will eventually learn the tubular bind-off called for in the pattern, but for now I’m binding off with a 4mm crochet hook on a wrong side row. I insert the hook purlwise into the first stitch and pull stitch off the needle and onto the hook, insert hook into 2nd stitch purlwise and pull off the needle and onto the hook, yarn over and pull through both loops. You will have one stitch left on the hook, insert hook into 3rd stitch and pull off the needle and onto the hook, yarn over and pull through both loops. Repeat to end. This gives a purl bump edging on the right side of the fabric.
8/24/20 I finished all of the seaming and just need to weave in ends and block I usually wear a size small/medium and I chose to make the size xs/s. The sweater is still very oversized, but I like it. Next time I would not add the extra inch before separating for sleeves.
Overall, I believe this sweater is beginner friendly for an adventurous beginner. Nothing too difficult. First time for me to add the collar and fold it over and attach. I wasn’t in the mood at the end to learn the tubular bind-off, so I can’t speak for this technique. I believe knitting in the round and using a basting stitch after the sleeve separation saved me a lot of knitting and seaming time. The basting stitch automatically lines up the seam. I enjoyed this pattern and I’m happy with the oversize fit. I could do without the extra bagginess under the armpit, but this was due to me adding an inch in length there. I won’t do this next time.
