Inspiration came from a photo of a quilt.
This project uses a basic diagonal granny square. Some are one color and some are half one color and half another color. I used a 5.0mm (H) hook and each square is 21 rows. Increase from 1 three dc group to 11 dc groups then decrease from 10 dc groups to 1 dc group. For the two color squares, change colors on row 12.
I am putting this project on hold as 2 skeins of the Great Smoky Mountains colorway are considerably thicker and stiffer than the rest of the skeins. I tried to just go with it, but the it made the squares so much stiffer, I decided to halt progress until I can replace the yarn.
5/9/17 Found a couple more skeins of Smoky Mountains at Jo-ann and am now on row 4 of 6 and need about 23 more squares to complete. it seems my yarn calculations were off and I may end up need one or two more skeins of each color.
5/27/17 Finished a few other projects and now ready to tackle finishing this project. After I finish this one I have 3 wips to complete and one idea in progress that I can’t wait to get started on.
5/28/17 Completed row 4 of 6 and joined to row 3.
6/11/17 Finished up all the squares. should be able to complete the rest of the joining today. Finished joining and border.
Border: rnd 1; (sc, ch 2) in each space around with (sc, ch 2, sc) in corners
rnd 2; 2 dc in each ch 2 space from previous rnd, (dc, ch 3, dc) in corners
