Lovely pattern that works up quickly! Love the simple stitch pattern that creates a lovely open work design. Easy to follow for experienced crocheters. Might be a little difficult for newbies. I love the fit of this sweater!
I really like the color, sheen, and texture of the yarn.
I crochet on the loose side, so I generally have to make some adjustments from the original pattern to compensate for this.
TIP: Make sure your beginning chains for the front and back panels are really loose or the bottom of your sweater will be tight.
5/10: Completed front and back panels. 22 rows long, width size med. (54 stitches decreased to 41 stitches)
Neck opening: 11” across each side (22” opening around)
Side seams: From top, started seam at 7th row down to bottom
Sleeves: joined yarn at underarm, round 1: 28 sc evenly around turn
round 2 : ch 3, 28 stitches around (follow same stitch as body of sweater)
round 3: decrease to 27 stitches
round 4: decrease to 26 stitches
round 5: decrease to 25 stitches
rounds 6-17: 25 stitches around
I crocheted sleeves directly to the sweater, in the round, turning at the end of each round for a straight seam. I wanted to be able to try on the sweater as I went to custom fit the length and circumference of the sleeves.
I also crocheted both sleeves at the same time. I crocheted a few rows on one sleeve, then switched and crocheted a few rows on the other sleeve. I like to do it this way so that I make sure I crochet both sleeves exactly the same way. If I have to stop, then both sleeves are at the same point.
I didn’t need all of the 5 skeins, probably about 4 skeins would have been enough. 5 was easier so I could attach one skein to each side when crocheting the sleeves. I have about half a skein leftover in both.
NTS: Next time I might try crocheting the body of the sweater from top to bottom, without decreasing # of stitches for a boxier look.
