Very bulky, which I knew it would be with cat. 6 yarn, but I thought I would see if I have the patience to knit a garment with bulky yarn before I try something with thinner yarn.
2/22/18 Forgot to add the starting date, but I’m guessing it was about a week ago. I’m using 8mm 29” circular needles and Hometown USA in Chicago Charcoal from my stash. Full and partial skeins.
I thought this sweater would be a good on to try for my first knitted sweater. It looked fairly simple and so far it has been easy to understand. We’ll see how the seaming goes when it’s complete. Also hope I accurately kept count of the number of rows in the first sleeve so the second sleeve will match.
2/23/18 Finished except for weaving in ends. Not bad for a first knitted sweater also considering I just learned to knit. I found a small area where I messed up and purl stitches were on the knit side. I had already bound off the rows the mistakes were in so I improvised and took a crochet hook to pull the purl bumps to the wrong side of the fabric and tacked them down with a worsted weight yarn in the same color as the sweater. You can still tell where I messed up, but not nearly as noticeable as the purl bumps popping out on the right side. Another goof was evidently my stitch count was off some where because when I pulled the first line of dropped stitches it came right up to the edge of neck line. To fix this I knitted an extra row at the edge of the neckline. It doesn’t match the other half of the neckline, but looks ok. I wouldn’t be embarrassed to wear it, so I count it as a “win”.
