Notes

Using Montana Crochet Dk Yarn (Copper Kings). I had 4 skeins (Dye Lot A) and I ordered 2 more. Since they are from different dye lots they are slightly different, but will work out fine with the stripe pattern. I will use the 2 newer skeins (Dye Lot B) for the stripe which will be very subtle.

Giving this pattern a go. Not sure how I will like the esc stitch. My gauge with a 4mm hook is 14 st x 14 r = 4”. Since I got the height gauge I am following directions for size small to get size med measurements. Measured progress at row 21 and can’t decide what to do. Width is 39” which is closer to sz. L. I am ok with an oversize cardigan, but I’m worried I might run out of yarn, so I might start over and make the XS size.

Decided to go ahead and go for it! Waiting to get to a point where I can check how many stitches I’m getting per skein.

6/5/19 I ended up going with the size small and a 4.0mm hook. I feel like my tension is average now that I have quite a bit of experience, so I believe the designer must have really tight tension. Even though I went down to a 4.0 hook and made the size small, the cardigan is more in between a size medium and size large. I wanted the measurements of the size medium, so I’m ok with it being a little large.

I made several modifications:
I blocked the body flat before seaming the shoulders.
I made the sleeves in rows instead of turned rounds and will attach to the arm openings and then seam the length closed.
I made the collar after blocking the body. I will steam set the collar and sleeves when complete.
I adjusted the increases on the sleeves to end up with the desired circumference at the top of the sleeve.
My armholes ended up being too big for the sleeves, so I went back and patched in 4 rows to make the openings smaller. Of course I had to seam them in, but it didn’t really show much and luckily it’s under the arms anyway.

At this point I need to attach and seam sleeves, attach pockets, steam sleeves, collar, and pockets, and weave in ends.

Just some final blocking and weaving in ends and I’m done!

I had 1 oz. of Dye lot A left over and 2.4 oz. of dye lot B left over.
