My sister wanted me to make this pattern in school colors for her son to fit a queen size bed. Making strips in 17 sections for approx. 78” length. Estimate 12- 13 strips wide for abt 60” to 65” width. Each section of color takes about 15 minutes to complete. Each 17 section strip takes about 4 hrs. to complete, and it it takes about 2 hrs to sew 2 strips together. estimating about 76+ hrs. to complete excluding weaving in ends and adding border.
5/17/15: 4 strips finished so far and sewed together. (Tried different ways of crocheting strips together, but the method of sewing together described in the pattern instructions worked the best for a clean join.)
7/6/15: took a break to work on other projects, now I’m motivated to resume on this project. Realizing I probably should have made the strips wider as well as longer so I would have less seaming, but too far in to change that, so will stick it out.
Not exactly frogging yet. Switched gears to make 2 queen size blankets for my nephews using a Q hook, 3 strands of worsted weight weight yarn, and single crochet. Don’t have the patience to make the this pattern in a queen size. I will be possibly adding some stripes to widen it enough for an extra long afghan.
8/29/16 Drug this out of hibernating- two more afghans to complete then i plan on bringing this out of hibernation and finishing it! I put so much work into it already, I’m determined to finish by my sister’s birthday.
10/22/16 Seven strips made and joined.Making 2 more strips then adding border.
10/27/16 In the last 5 days I finished and joined the last 2 strips, added a border (2 rounds sc, 1 round reverse sc), and wove in all the ends. (The end weaving was done today during a 4 episode binge of Outlander!) Only thing left to do is block, which I have plenty of time to do as my sis’ bday is Nov. 29.
