Inspired by this project:http://www.ravelry.com/projects/NickiMM/princess-ansleighs-party-dress

My granddaughter loves Tinkerbell, so when I saw the above linked project I thought I could could incorporate part of the Princess Ansleigh’s Dress (the bands at the top and waist of the costume) and part of the Tinker Bell Costume (the alternating front loop and back loop single crochet) and come up with a costume I would be satisfied with.
Note: I crochet on the loose side, so to achieve the same measurements as I did, if you crochet average or tight, you might want to go up a hook size. When crocheting the alternating flsc (front loop single crochet), blsc (back loop single crochet), it helped me to assign odd # stitches to flsc and even # stitches to blsc so it would be easier to keep track. Remember if your round is an even # of stitches your first stitch of the round will be flsc and the last stitch of the round will be blsc. If your round is an odd # stitches, your first and last stitch of the round will both be flsc. Always start the first stitch of the round with flsc whether crocheting in the round or crocheting in the round and turning. In the round I joined by slip stitching to front loop of the first stitch of the round, ch 1, and flsc (1st stitch of new round) in the same stitch. When crocheting in the round and turning after each round I joined by slip stitching to front loop of the first stitch of the round, ch 1, turn and flsc (1st stitch of new round) in the last stitch of the previous round.

I started with the top band, which I modified to 30 rows of 5 dc. This measured about 19” around. I then crocheted a round of 60 sc, then the next round and all subsequent rounds in alternating flsc and blsc until length reached 6.5”. Next I crocheted the waistband the same as the band for the top of of the dress and joined. I crochet one round of 75 sc evenly around band to start skirt. I then crocheted the following rounds in alternating flsc and blsc, but I also turned after every round (like rows) for a completely different look than the top portion. I stopped at 9” long to start adding the pointed ends. For the triangles at the bottom still working in the round, I made 8 each starting with 9 stitches and decreasing one stitch per row (9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1) until 1 stitch (point) then slip stitched back up one side until the bottom of skirt and start next triangle, continued around. Next I will be making matching slippers and possibly a hat.
