Double stranded. One strand of each of the two turquoise yarns. Went down a hook size (8mm). Next time I will go down another hook size (6.5mm or 7.0mm) for this size. I had to crochet tightly to get the circumference right. I am much more comfortable crocheting with a looser tension.
