Awesome pattern! It is well-written and I fell in love with the look of the stitches. I really had some trouble at first determining if my stitch placement was correct, but there is a helpful photo for comparison. Persevered and once I got a hang of the repeats, I didn’t have to look back at the pattern. (The stitches are very basic stitches, my difficulty was just determining if I had the correct placement.) There is also a detailed chart for sizing and clear instructions. This pattern uses actual measurements for sizing rather than gauge, therefore you can use any hook and yarn you like. I will look for patterns with this feature from now on, as I hate trying to match gauges!
For this cardigan, I used a very soft pink yarn from the $7.99/pound bin at Jo-Ann. The yarn appears to be about a dk or #3 weight yarn or light worsted. It’s a little heavier weight than I wanted, but I really liked the yarn, so went with it.
2/1/15 Waiting for my granddaughter to try on the cardigan before I weave in ends, and add the buttons and trim.
2/3/15 Finished sweater and made a matching slouchy hat. My granddaughter is the model in the pics. I had to bribe her to get her to pose- lol! Thinking I will add a large pom pom to hat when I get around to it.
2/4/15 Decided to add pom pom to hat.
Modifications: I made this cardigan a little longer than the pattern called for. I did one round of sc around for trim as size was already large enough before adding trim. Added buttons down left side of front and added a scallop trim down right side of front. Made a slouchy hat to match.
