Started with a chain of 60 and one round sc in black instead of band as my husband didn’t want a thick band at the bottom.

12 rounds of plaid then one round of sc in black before cinching closed.

Note: The last round of plaid and sc round at top of hat, I pulled really tight.

After hat was finished, I added a round of slip stitch to the bottom of the hat, as it was a little big around the bottom. The slip stitch round tightened it up and gave a nice finished look to the hat.

After making 2 hats, still had leftover yarn.
