Inspired by a post on Pinterest.

4 basic granny squares (18”), 14 rounds each.

Working design on graph paper.

Joined squares with Join as you go method. Where the squares are joined together, I joined about 10” and left 8” unjoined.

Border: (slip stitch, chain 3, slip stitch into first chain) in every ch space and in 2nd double crochet of each double crochet group.

Ties: ch 51, slipstitch in 2nd chain and each chain across (50) I incorporated the ties as I was crocheting the border. I made them 12” long.

If I ever make another one, I think I would go with fingering or lace weight yarn as this top is a little heavy in sport weight.

HELPFUL HINT: When I make large granny squares, I turn the square over after each round and make next round on that side so the square won’t pull to one side.
