I have been wanting to make this pattern for myself, but thought I’d try it out in a smaller size first, to see how it goes. Very pleased with the finished result. Just need to add buttons and get my granddaughter to try it on to check sleeve length.
I made the version without the thumb holes in a child’s size 7/8.
This is a very well written pattern with instructions for 15 sizes from 1/2 yrs. to adult 4xlarge! Measurements and stitch counts are given. I find this very helpful when I’m in doubt about anything, as this allows me to check if I’ve interpreted the instructions correctly. I especially like the shaping around yoke that gives this cardigan a more tailored look, yet is not difficult to make.
I would suggest reading through the entire pattern first to familiarize yourself with the style and highlight the portions that pertain to the size you are making and any other important instructions. There were one or two areas I needed to go over more than once to fully understand the instructions. I would rate this pattern as intermediate. NOTE: Don’t forget to change to a smaller hook when crocheting the ribbed sections.
The pattern does say seamless in the attributes area, but if you follow the directions for the sleeves, you will have to seam the length of the sleeves. Since I made the version without the thumb holes, I avoided seaming by simply crocheting the whole sleeve in the round, turning every round (as in rows). Turning every round makes a straight join line and the rounds will look the same as the rows of the body of the sweater.
